Praia da Armona Mar is the ocean side of Armona island, a walk across the island from the ferry that crosses from Olhão. The ferry lands among holiday cottages on the lagoon side, and a single sandy path of about a kilometre leads across the island to the Atlantic beach, which runs empty in both directions once you leave the path's end. There are no cars and no roads, and the lagoon side offers calm, warmer water for those who prefer it. Carrying your things across is part of the deal. It suits walkers, families travelling light, and anyone who wants space that mainland beaches cannot offer.
