Alvor
Alvor consegue algo raro no Algarve: é ao mesmo tempo uma verdadeira vila de pescadores e uma das bases de praia mais queridas da região, sem que um lado atrapalhe o outro. O casco antigo sobe do porto em ruas caiadas, passa pela igreja matriz com o seu portal manuelino e chega às esplanadas onde o peixe no prato veio de um barco que se vê da mesa. Em baixo, a Ria de Alvor estende-se para poente: uma laguna protegida de bancos de areia, sapal e aves limícolas, atravessada pelos passadiços de madeira que se tornaram o passeio de marca de Alvor. Ao segui-los chega-se à Praia de Alvor, um extenso areal que corre para nascente até às falésias ocres dos Três Irmãos. As famílias têm espaço e mar mais calmo; quem caminha tem as dunas e a luz da ria. As noites concentram-se na marginal junto ao porto, onde as casas de marisco e os pequenos bares enchem da primavera ao fim do outono. Portimão fica a dez minutos quando apetece comércio ou marina, e Lagos a vinte para o outro lado, mas a graça de Alvor é que, na maioria dos dias, não apetece sair.
