Amado Surf Camp

Amado Surf Camp was built from the ground up by locals born and raised in Carrapateira, on the Algarve's west coast. Coming from a family of fishermen, the founders grew up around the ocean long before surfing became popular on this stretch of coastline, and they have now been running their surf school and camp for over 20 years, focused on small groups, quality coaching and a relaxed atmosphere. The school operates from two bases. The main surf school sits right on Praia do Amado in Carrapateira (Tv. da Paz 1), teaching group and private lessons with wetsuits and boards included, plus board rentals for surfers who want to go out on their own. A second base, Casa Azul on Praca da Republica in Sagres, gives guests the option of a livelier surf town with more cafes and restaurants in the evenings. All instructors are certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation or the International Surfing Association. Surf lessons run from EUR 45 for a half day up to EUR 385 for a 7 day course, with private lessons from EUR 150, and equipment rental separately from EUR 7.5 for a wetsuit up to EUR 55 for a premium board for a full day. Surf & Stay packages combine a week of lessons with accommodation: from EUR 295 per person for a shared tent, EUR 425 for a bungalow or EUR 525 for a wooden house in Carrapateira, and from EUR 425 for a shared dorm room or EUR 450 for a private room at the Sagres camp, all including daily breakfast, transfers to the beach, equipment and wifi. The school currently runs a 7% last minute discount on surf packages of 4 days or longer.
