Praia dos Estudantes is a tiny Lagos cove best known for the arched footbridge, often called the Roman bridge, linking the cliff to a sea stack. Despite the nickname, the bridge is not Roman at all but a much later addition, and it has become one of the most photographed details on this stretch of coast. The cove itself is reached through a tunnel in the rock from the direction of Praia da Batata, and much of the sand disappears as the tide rises. It is a place for a look, a swim and a photograph rather than a full day with all the kit. It suits photographers, low-tide explorers and anyone walking the chain of coves out of Lagos.
