Praia do Pinhão, right now
Praia do Pinhão is a small cove between Praia da Batata and Dona Ana in Lagos, reached by a stairway and enclosed by rust-red cliffs. It is one of the most sheltered corners of the Lagos coastline, a pocket of sand with rock stacks close offshore and water that stays calm in most conditions. The clifftop path from town passes directly above it, around fifteen minutes on foot from the centre, and the steps down keep numbers lower than at its famous neighbour. There is little room at the highest tides, so it rewards a quick check of the tide times. It suits couples and small groups after a quieter spot, and snorkellers working the rocks on either side.
