Quarteira
Unlike its purpose-built neighbors, Quarteira is a real Portuguese resort town. Famous for its palm-lined promenade (Calçadão), massive weekly market, and one of the freshest fish markets in the region. It offers a lively, unpretentious atmosphere popular with Portuguese families and long-stay visitors.
Glorious
Towel weather, no excuses.
Praia de Vilamoura, right now
Praia de Vilamoura is the beach beside Vilamoura marina, flat golden sand meeting the promenade at the eastern end of the Falésia cliffs. There are no cliffs or steps at this end, just level access from the marina and the walkways behind the sand, which makes it one of the easiest beaches on this coast to reach with pushchairs or limited mobility. Walk west and the sand continues towards the red cliffs of Falésia; stay put and the marina, one of the largest in Portugal, is directly behind. It suits families, promenade strollers and boat-watchers, and anyone who values convenience over seclusion.
