A grab-your-shades afternoon.
Praia da Falésia, right now
Praia da Falésia runs for roughly six kilometres between Vilamoura and Olhos de Água, an unbroken beach beneath red and orange cliffs. The cliffs, streaked from white through ochre to rust and topped with umbrella pines, are what everyone remembers, and they change colour with the light through the day. Stairways come down at points including Rocha Baixinha and the Açoteias area, and at low tide the firm sand makes one of the best long beach walks in the Algarve. The sheer scale means it never feels full away from the access points. It suits walkers and runners above all, plus families happy to carry their things down the steps.
