Wintering in Lagos, February 2027

Lagos is one of the Algarve's most beloved towns: a historic old town with cobblestone streets, great restaurants, lively cafes and a beach within walking distance. February is calm, sunny and surprisingly local, with the summer crowds long gone. You stay at Vila Branca (4 stars), just outside the centre: quiet enough to unwind, close enough to walk into the buzz. A comfortable aparthotel a short walk from the heart of Lagos, close to the old town, Porto de Mos beach and the coastal boardwalk. The apartments are spacious, modern and fully equipped with a full kitchen with oven, dishwasher and washing machine, living room, dining area and private balcony. There is an outdoor pool for guests (no indoor pool, sauna or gym on site), and bus and train are easy to reach on foot. The cleaning team comes by regularly to clean and change towels and sheets. Your week brings 3 guided hikes and 1 cultural visit. Hikes are intermediate, typically around 12 km with about 200 m of climbing, on parts of the Rota Vicentina (Fisherman's Trail), the Via Algarviana, cliff paths past old fishing villages such as Burgau, Ferragudo, Praia da Luz, Salema, Monte Clérigo and Carvoeiro, inland around Silves and Monchique, and the Ria Formosa islands. Day trips explore Tavira, Silves, Loulé, Olhão, Aljezur, Sagres and more. Optional activities include an olive grove tour and tasting, baking your own pastel de nata, a sardine factory tour, a grotto boat tour, wine tasting, a cork factory visit, an e-bike tour, stargazing with an astronomer, a rockpool workshop and painting azulejos.
