A hike in the hills of Silves and around the Arade reservoir, visiting the conservation programme saving the Iberian lynx.

  • Visit the Iberian lynx conservation programme
  • Views over the Arade reservoir
  • Binoculars provided

Near Silves a conservation programme is saving the Iberian lynx from extinction, and we go to see it, without disturbing the animals. We combine the lynx spotting with a hike in the hills of Silves and around the Arade reservoir, and tell you about the area, the wildlife we come across, the programme and the life of the lynx. Intermediate, on dirt tracks and a concrete road overlooking the lake, with several climbs and descents. Linear route, there and back. 7 km, about 3.5 hours, late afternoon, all year.
