Uma Árvore is a new exhibition at the Museu Municipal de Tavira (Palácio da Galeria) by artists Daniel Moreira and Rita Castro Neves, curated by Ana Anacleto. It is the result of three years of research built around a single tree, the six-hundred-year-old carob tree at Quinta da Parra in Moncarapacho, classified as a Tree of Public Interest. Drawn from repeated residencies at the site, the artists gathered images, sounds, materials and local stories to build immersive, room-scale environments rather than a conventional wall-hung display. The exhibition explores natural cycles, ancestry, scientific knowledge and collective memory through that one living landmark. It opened on 4 July and runs until 24 October 2026, Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 17:30. Entry to Palácio da Galeria costs 2 euros for adults, with discounts for students, over-65s and under-18s, and free entry for children under 8.
