Three nights of Roman-era street theatre fill the hilltop village of Salir, with a market, gladiator arena and legion camp, 17 to 19 July.

Salir no Tempo turns the narrow streets of this hilltop village, in the hills above Loulé, into a Roman stage for three nights. From 19:00, costumed performers recreate life under Roman occupation with a reconstructed villa, a gladiator arena, legionary camps, an emperor's court and honour guard, plus a Roman market, working craftspeople, street performers, falconry and snake handlers. Food stalls serve dishes inspired by Roman-era cooking alongside the usual village cafes, and the whole event is organised by Loulé town council together with the Junta de Freguesia de Salir. Daily entry costs 3 euros, or 5 euros for a pass covering all three nights. Gates open late, so it works better as an evening out than an afternoon visit.
