NOAP (Nederlands Onderwijs Algarve Portugal)

NOAP (Nederlands Onderwijs Algarve Portugal) is the Algarve's Dutch-medium day school, teaching primary-age children fully in Dutch from a rural campus set among orange orchards near Alcantarilha, in Silves municipality. The school is affiliated with the NOB (Stichting Nederlands Onderwijs in het Buitenland) network for primary education and is visited by the Dutch Education Inspectorate, so children who return to the Netherlands can rejoin the Dutch system without a gap. From the 2025/26 school year NOAP also offers secondary education, delivered through Wereldschool and NOB-affiliated for the Dutch subject. Portuguese and English are taught alongside the Dutch curriculum, which the school says makes it easier for pupils to move into the Portuguese or international school systems if a family decides to stay on. The school moved into a new, larger building on 1 September 2024, set back from the road on its own grounds with dedicated parking. Classrooms connect through wide doors and windows for an open, light feel, and the outdoor space is used for free play and discovery. Enrolment is flexible: families can join for a full school year, a semester, or a single term (fixed start dates of 31 August, after the autumn break, after the Christmas break, or 1 April), which suits families spending only part of the year in Portugal. NOAP also runs its own after-school care (NSO) for the 2026/27 school year, for children aged 4 to 12, Monday to Thursday from 15:15 to 17:30 and available from one day a week. NSO includes shared fresh fruit, free play in the school's nature garden and supervision by a qualified pedagogical worker, published at EUR 52.50 per chosen day per month per child.
