Eden Montessori International School

Eden Montessori International School has been teaching the Montessori method in Ferreiras, near Albufeira, since 2018. The school covers Pre-School through Elementary levels (Children's House for ages 3 to 6, and Lower and Upper Elementary for ages 6 to 12), with an Extracurricular programme for ages 3 to 12 covering aftercare and enrichment activities. In 2024 the school began blending its Montessori approach with the International Baccalaureate framework and now holds Candidate School status for the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), working towards full authorisation as an IB World School. Classes run in a bilingual English and Portuguese environment, following the Montessori method's emphasis on hands-on materials, self-directed learning, and respect for each child's own pace of development. The school was founded by a group of families who wanted an alternative to conventional, one-size-fits-all schooling, choosing the Montessori method for its focus on independence, concentration and a genuine love of learning rather than rote instruction. The campus sits on the E.N. 125 at Fontainhas-Pinhal, Ferreiras, within reach of Albufeira and the wider Golden Triangle. The school holds occasional community events, including its annual Summer Fair, and welcomes enquiries from families through its admissions team by phone or contact form.
