Yoga + Wellness Retreats
The Algarve has quietly become one of Europe’s favourite places to practise. The mild climate, the cliff-top light and the calm out of season draw teachers from all over the world, and the result is a real depth of choice: week-long residential retreats in the hills and by the sea, weekend intensives, teacher trainings, and drop-in classes you can join for a single morning while on holiday.
You will find everything from strong vinyasa and ashtanga to restorative, yin, breathwork and meditation, often paired with surfing, hiking, sound healing or simply good vegetarian food. Retreats cluster around Lagos, the west coast around Aljezur and Sagres, and the quieter countryside inland from the central Algarve.
Every studio, teacher and retreat host listed here has been checked by us, and you book with them directly. Algarve Circle takes no commission and adds no fees, so the price you see is their own.

Before you book
Do I need experience to join a yoga retreat in the Algarve?
No. Most retreats and studios here welcome complete beginners and mix levels within a class, offering gentler variations alongside stronger ones. If a retreat is aimed at experienced practitioners or teachers in training, the listing says so.
When is the best time of year for a yoga retreat here?
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot: warm but not too hot, calm, and quieter than high summer. Many hosts run their fullest programmes from March to June and September to November, though studios in the towns teach year-round.
Can I just drop in to a single class while on holiday?
Yes. Alongside the residential retreats, many studios and teachers here run open drop-in classes you can book for a single session, which is a lovely way to practise somewhere new without committing to a whole week. Each listing shows whether it offers retreats, regular classes or both.
