Portimão's riverside marks 30 years of grilled sardines and free concerts over six summer nights.
Is this your event?
Claim Sardine Festival 2026 (Festival da Sardinha Portimão) to manage it, add photos and tickets, and list it under your business. It is free.
The Festival da Sardinha fills Portimão's riverside, between the museum and the Entre Pontes area, with the smell of sardines grilling over charcoal for six nights every summer. Entry is free, and the classic plate of grilled sardines with bread, boiled potatoes and Algarve salad is sold on site for a fixed price, alongside stalls, crafts and a free morning tasting session that hands out thousands of vouchers. 2026 is a landmark 30th edition, running from 4 to 9 August with the grounds open from 6pm to 1am. Each night closes with a free concert on the main stage from around 10pm, with acts confirmed including Matias Damásio, Fernando Daniel, Cuca Roseta and Xutos e Pontapés closing the festival. It has previously been named Europe's best summer gastronomic event, and remains one of the most popular free festivals on the Algarve calendar.
