Mughal Clay Indian Restaurant sits in Marina Plaza, on Vilamoura marina, and is part of a family restaurant group founded in Albufeira in August 2004 by Alex and Mary, who are originally from Kerala in South India. What started as one restaurant has grown into six across the Algarve, and Mughal Clay is the group's outpost in Vilamoura. The kitchen is staffed by Indian chefs and cooks traditional curries, tandoori dishes and rice, made mild, medium or hot to order, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options side by side. Spice blends are ground on site rather than bought pre-mixed, and the restaurant is an authorised distributor of Cobra beer for southern Portugal, a common pairing with the spicier dishes on the menu. Reservations run through Mughal Clay's own online table booking form (name, date, time and party size), and the full menu, split into starters, tandoori dishes, curries and more, is published on the website. The group also runs an Indian grocery shop, an off licence in Albufeira's old town, near its sister restaurant Jaipur.
