Kubidoce

Kubidoce is a bakery, patisserie and chocolate shop (bombonaria) on the EN125 in Urbanizacao Vila Formosa, Olhao, run by chef Filipe Martins. The business closed its previous premises in Olhao and Fuseta in 2018 while Martins trained in Spain, Belgium and Italy, then reopened at the end of that year in its current location with a renewed concept, at customers' request. The kitchen makes bread with natural fermentation using quinoa, rye, Alentejo-style and nine-grain flours, alongside gluten-free pastries made with brown sugar and options inspired by French patisserie as well as Algarve classics such as doces finos and Dom Rodrigo. Kubidoce also makes its own creams, sauces and granola from scratch rather than buying them in, and keeps a traditional Olhao folar (a rolled, egg-topped bread) on sale year round, in versions with sweet potato and almond or with fig, orange and almond. In 2023 Kubidoce won the Portuguese 'Melhor Panettone Nacional' (Best National Panettone) award and was crowned Portugal's representative at the World Panettone Championship in Milan, held in November 2024, a result the team credits to chef Filipe Martins and the wider Kubidoce team. Kubidoce is open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 7pm and Saturday from 7am to 1pm, closed on Sundays.
