Cabrita Wines

Cabrita Wines is produced on Quinta da Vinha, near Silves, a property the Cabrita family has owned for half a century. José André, the first owner, planted vines alongside his fruit trading business, and his son José Manuel Cabrita later brought innovation to his father's traditional methods. The Cabrita brand released its first wine in 2007, and growing demand has since led José Manuel to acquire two further vineyards, build a modern winery with a temperature controlled barrel room, and create a dedicated tasting room. The estate now covers 16 hectares across its three properties, all within 5km of the Atlantic coast, spanning sandy, clay-limestone and rocky limestone soils that shape the character of the wines. The range includes the Cabrita Negra Mole native grape edition, the Cabrita Blanc de Noir sparkling wine (a Brut Nature aged four years in the cellar) and a rare 10 year old Moscatel-Graúdo fortified wine. The winemaking team includes Joana Maçanita and Dinis Gonçalves, with Duarte Rito as wine tourism manager and Andreia Cabrita as assistant manager. Cabrita Wines offers vineyard tours and tastings by reservation, an online wine shop with gift vouchers, and a quarterly wine club, Clube Cabrita Wines. The estate also hosts music festivals and gastronomic events through the year, and runs an annual Harvest Experience where visitors can join the grape picking.
