Quinta dos Santos

Quinta dos Santos is a family-owned wine farm, craft brewery and restaurant in the hills between Carvoeiro and Ferragudo, in the council of Lagoa. The dos Santos family, of Portuguese heritage, returned to this eight-hectare plot of ancestral land in September 2016 and opened in 2018 with three hectares of vines and a new hectare of olive trees planted among older almond, carob, cork oak and olive trees, alongside restored stone walls and an old aqueduct channel system. The vineyard sits just 2.3km from the Atlantic on mainly clay-limestone soils and is planted exclusively with Portuguese grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Negra Mole, Sousão and Bastardo for reds, and Malvasia Fina, Arinto, Verdelho and Esganão Cão for whites. The wines are released under two labels, the premium Tesouro collection and the more accessible Escolhido range, and the estate also produces Dos Santos Craft Beer, brewed using the German Reinheitsgebot purity method, and its own Dos Santos Premium Gin. At the centre of the estate is 'a Esquina', a modern rural taproom and restaurant serving contemporary Portuguese cuisine and petiscos for sharing alongside individual main courses, paired with the estate's own wine, beer and gin cocktails, across indoor and outdoor seating. The kitchen offers vegetarian and vegan options, and the restaurant takes bookings through its own online booking system as well as by phone or WhatsApp. Quinta dos Santos also hosts weddings for up to 70 guests, with ceremonies held under a pergola in the vineyard or on the estate's stone terrace, and offers its grounds for business meetings, private lunches and other events. Wine and beer can be bought directly from the estate, where visitors can also book a cellar tour and tasting or a session with the resident winemaker, and the restaurant sells gift vouchers in EUR 25 and EUR 50 denominations as well as digital gift cards of any value.
