A Mesa Tavira

A Mesa is chef Joao Dias's restaurant on Rua Alvaro de Campos in the centre of Tavira. Dias, born in Lisbon in 1982, trained at the Faro School of Hospitality and Tourism and did internships at Vila Vita and Vila Joya before working at Santa Eulalia and then gaining further experience in France, Brazil and Macau. He returned to the Algarve to open A Mesa, which is listed in the Michelin Guide. The restaurant describes itself as a welcoming and intimate space where sustainability meets refinement, built around Portuguese gastronomy and consciously sourced local ingredients prepared with refined technique. Reservations run through A Mesa's own online booking system, which requires a card deposit to confirm a table and allows cancellation up to a set deadline.
