Benagil Cave Tours
The Benagil sea cave is the picture that makes people book flights: a vast dome carved out of the golden cliffs with a circle of sky open above a hidden beach. You can only reach it from the water, and the boats that know it best leave from the harbours and beaches minutes away, at Benagil itself, Carvoeiro, Ferragudo, Portimão and Lagoa.
Trips range from quick cave-and-coastline runs in fast RIBs to slower catamaran cruises that take in the whole run of grottos, arches and hidden beaches along this stretch. When the sea is calm, kayak and paddleboard tours can land on the small beach inside the cave itself, which no motorboat is allowed to do.

Can you go inside the Benagil cave?
Boats pass through the cave mouth and pause inside, but only kayaks and paddleboards may land on the inner beach, and only when the sea is calm. If standing inside the cave matters to you, book a kayak or SUP tour from Benagil beach and go early in the day.
Where is the best place to start a Benagil trip from?
Benagil beach and Carvoeiro are closest, with the shortest ride to the cave. Ferragudo, Portimão and Armação de Pêra add a longer, more scenic run along the cliffs. From Albufeira or Lagos expect a longer trip that usually bundles in dolphins or more coastline.
How much does a Benagil cave tour cost?
Short cave runs start around 20 to 25 euros per adult, kayak tours around 30 to 40 euros, and longer coastline or dolphin combinations from about 40 euros upwards. Prices on Algarve Circle come from the operators themselves, with no commission or booking fee added.
