Sagres marks the autumn seabird migration with the 17th Festival de Observação de Aves e Atividades de Natureza, four days of guided birdwatching walks, boat trips, talks and family nature activities centred on one of the best headlands in Europe for watching migrating birds. This year's edition puts the spotlight on the razorbill, a seabird that passes the Sagres coast in large numbers during its post breeding migration. Organised by the Câmara Municipal de Vila do Bispo with SPEA, the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds, and the Almargem association, the festival draws ornithologists, naturalists and curious visitors from across Europe to Cabo de São Vicente and the cliffs around Sagres. The full programme is published on 5 August, with registration for guided activities opening on 2 September.
