One region, many places to call home
The Algarve is not one market but several. The central coast around Albufeira, Vilamoura and Quarteira is busy and well served all year. The west, from Lagos out to the wilder Atlantic at Sagres and Aljezur, is quieter and greener. The east, around Tavira and Olhão, keeps an older, gentler pace. Inland, the hills behind Loulé and Silves offer space, views and far better value than the seafront, with the beach still a short drive away.
Buying here is straightforward once you have the right people around you. You will want a lawyer who works for you, not the seller, and a Portuguese tax number, the NIF, before you sign anything.
