Willie's Restaurante

Willie's Restaurante sits in a quiet residential corner of Vilamoura, close to the Pinhal golf course, and has been run by German-born chef Willie Wurger since he opened it with his wife, Laila. Wurger arrived in the Algarve in 1985 after training at the hotel school in Passau and working as a trainee chef in one and two Michelin-starred kitchens in Germany. He earned the Algarve's first Michelin star in 1989 while heading the kitchen at the Relais & Chateaux Hotel La Reserve, then took a second star two years into his time at Restaurante Sao Gabriel. Willie's itself won a Michelin star in 2006, the third of Wurger's career and the first under his own name, and the restaurant held it every year through 2019. The kitchen serves modern international cuisine built on classic technique, structured across starters, main courses and desserts, with a dedicated wine list curated to match. The dining room is warm and relaxed rather than formal, and the restaurant opens for dinner from 19:00 to 23:00, closed only on Sundays. Bookings run through an online reservation system, and the kitchen today is led by Wurger alongside his long-standing team.
