Vila Joya

Vila Joya is the restaurant of the boutique hotel of the same name on the clifftop at Praia da Gale, Albufeira. Founder Claudia Jung brought Austrian chef Dieter Koschina to the kitchen in 1991, and Koschina has held two Michelin stars there for decades, earning the first in 1995 and the second in 1999, a run that puts Vila Joya among Portugal's longest-standing two-star kitchens alongside Belcanto and Antiqvvm. Koschina, working alongside executive chef Stefan Langmann, builds a new tasting menu every day rather than repeating a fixed seasonal card, blending classic Central European technique with Portuguese produce and coastline ingredients. The dining terrace sits beneath arched arcades above the hotel gardens, with the Atlantic as a backdrop. The restaurant offers a 13-course Chef Dieter Koschina's Favourites menu for lunch and dinner at EUR 290 per person, excluding drinks, alongside a daily-changing Vila Joya Signature lunch menu at the same price. Reservations are taken by phone or email, and the restaurant operates on a seasonal basis in line with the hotel.
