Vale do Lobo

Ocean Golf Course is the second of Vale do Lobo Resort's two championship courses, formed from two original 9-hole courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton and opened in 1968 and 1972. The merged 18-hole layout became reality in 1995, after Cotton's death, though the resort's own course-details table separately states an inauguration date of 1985, a discrepancy on their site we have not resolved. The course plays to a par of 73 over 6,122 metres, with undulating fairways that run alongside a nature reserve before leading down to the shores of the Atlantic. Its best-known holes are the challenging par-4 11th and 14th, which open up some of the most spectacular views in the Algarve, and the beachside par-3 15th. The course shares its Golf Academy with the neighbouring Royal course, offering a warm-up area for beginners and a short-game practice area with bunkers, plus coaching from a resident teaching professional. The Golf Club at the resort's Parque do Golfe complex includes a branch of Nevada Bob's golf store, a Fitness Centre with a physiotherapist specialising in golf injuries, and the Spikes Restaurant and Bar. Green fees for the 2025/26 season (1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026) run from EUR 143 to EUR 204 for 18 holes depending on the month, with 9-hole, twilight and sunset rates from EUR 93 to EUR 122, and junior rates of EUR 72 for 18 holes and EUR 36 for 9 holes. A handicap certificate is required to play (maximum handicap 28 for men, 36 for ladies), and tee times are booked online through the resort's GolfManager system.
