Sweet & Salt

Sweet & Salt does the two things its name promises, and does them all day. On the salt side of the menu sit the brunch classics done properly: eggs benedict on brioche in three versions (smoked salmon, prosciutto cotto, or prawn, each with crushed avocado, poached egg and hollandaise), a croque madame, chicken and mushroom crepes, and a whole family of filled croissants, from avocado and poached egg to prosciutto and camembert. On the sweet side come homemade pancakes, from berries with mascarpone and lemon curd to the chocolate, banana and caramelised peanut "Guilty" stack, along with a dessert counter and homemade cakes you can order whole for birthdays and occasions. The kitchen runs all day, every day, from 10 in the morning until 10 at night (a little later on Friday and Saturday), which makes it as good for a slow late brunch as for coffee and cake in the afternoon or a casual evening with a glass from the wine list. It sits on Avenida Miguel Bombarda in Portimão, an easy stroll from the riverside, and tables can be booked online in seconds.
