Royal Course

Royal Golf Course is one of two championship courses at Vale do Lobo Resort in Vale do Lobo, inaugurated in 1997 to a design by American architect Rocky Roquemore, based on original drawings by Sir Henry Cotton. The 18-hole, par 72 course runs 6,005 metres over rolling fairways set among pine trees and lakes. Its best-known features are the almost-island green on the 9th and the par-3 16th, with a cliff-top carryover shot that is one of the most photographed golf holes in Europe. The course shares its Golf Academy with the neighbouring Ocean course, offering a warm-up area for beginners and a short-game practice area with bunkers, plus coaching from a resident teaching professional. The Golf Club at the resort's Parque do Golfe complex includes a branch of Nevada Bob's golf store, a Fitness Centre with a physiotherapist specialising in golf injuries, and the Spikes Restaurant and Bar. Green fees for the 2025/26 season (1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026) run from EUR 143 to EUR 204 for 18 holes depending on the month, with 9-hole, twilight and sunset rates from EUR 93 to EUR 122, and junior rates of EUR 72 for 18 holes and EUR 36 for 9 holes. A handicap certificate is required to play (maximum handicap 28 for men, 36 for ladies), and tee times are booked online through the resort's GolfManager system.
