Rocha da Palha

Rocha da Palha is a beachfront seafood restaurant on the seafront of Armacao de Pera, with more than 30 years of experience and much of the same staff still serving guests. The restaurant sits right at the front of the beach, with an interior dining room and a terrace area with beanbags out on the sand, and doubles as a night terrace where guests can come for a drink with an ocean view. The kitchen serves traditional Portuguese cuisine with an emphasis on seafood, with house specialities including Bulhao Pato clams, shrimp with honey, tiger shrimp or carabineiro, fish or meat cataplanas, fresh fish grilled on charcoal, seafood rice and razor clam rice, alongside a range of sangria styles (Champagne, rose, red and white). Beyond the restaurant and bar, Rocha da Palha also hosts events and rents out beach loungers on Palha Beach in front of the restaurant. Opening hours change with the season: 12pm to 10pm in winter (November to January), 12pm to 10:30pm in June, and 12pm to 11pm from July to September, while the beach service, Palha Beach, runs every day from 10am to 2pm. The restaurant closes for its annual winter break each year, typically from mid November to mid January.
