Quinta da Tôr

Quinta da Tôr is a family run winery near the village of Tôr, close to the Roman bridge that gives the hamlet its name, a few minutes from Loulé. The land belonged to the same family from 1500 until 2011, when the current owners, who have roots in the village, restored the estate, replanted the vineyard and built a new winery. The vines cover 7 grape varieties, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Aragonez, Síria, Arinto and Chardonnay, benefiting from the barrocal's cool winters and hot summers. The range includes Grande Reserva Algibre, Algibre, Reserva, Syrah, Blend, Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Cabernet Sauvignon and a white (Branco). Visitors can join a guided tour (20 to 30 minutes) followed by 1.5 to 2 hours of tasting, home made bread and their own olive oil, with tapas available on request. Tasting packs range from the Prova Clássica (14 EUR, four classic wines) to the Prova Bravíssima (16 EUR), Prova Madeirinha (19 EUR) and Prova D'Ouro (22 EUR, including the Algibre D'Ouro). Guided tours in English run at 11h daily in summer (also 14h30 on weekdays) and at 11h and 14h30 in winter (16h on weekdays); Portuguese language tours run at 11h30 and 16h at weekends and on public holidays. The estate is open every day from 10h to 19h, closed only on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 to 8 January. There is also a lounge and pool area looking over the vines, with a minimum consumption of 15 EUR per person (from age 4) in summer, which can be spent on wine tastings, wine by the glass or bottle, sangria, juices or tapas. Quinta da Tôr runs a calendar of seasonal events including a Valentine's week pairing, Yoga & Wine, an Easter egg hunt, the TôrArt exhibition, a harvest (vindima) experience and a São Martinho celebration, alongside an online wine shop. The estate, shop and warehouse are based around Loulé, at Estrada EM525, Aldeia da Tôr, Morgado da Tôr, 8100-397 Loulé, with wine also sold at the Turinox warehouse in the Zona Industrial de Loulé.
