Ombria Algarve Golf Course

Ombria Algarve is an 18-hole golf course at the heart of the wider Ombria resort in Tôr, near Loulé, designed by architect Jorge Santana da Silva and opened in April 2023. The course was named Europe's Best New Golf Course 2024 at the World Golf Awards, held in Funchal, and has also been recognised with GEO Foundation certification for its sustainable design: the resort minimised turf areas, preserved native landscapes and installed an efficient irrigation system, working with the site's steep natural slopes rather than against them. The course sits within a 153-hectare sustainable resort that also includes a five-star hotel managed by Viceroy Hotels & Resorts, plus apartments and villas, as part of what Ombria's own team describes as a reimagining of the traditional Algarve village. The clubhouse was built into the castle-like walls of an existing farm ruin and functions more like a country club than a simple clubhouse, with panoramic views, a sports bar and restaurant (Casa & Fora), a pro shop stocking men's and women's golf clothing and accessories, changing rooms with lockers and a sauna, plus a swimming pool and gym. Club and buggy rentals are available through the pro shop, and the course hosts corporate retreats, private events and charity golf tournaments.
