Restaurante O Camilo

Restaurante O Camilo has been run by the same family for more than 40 years on the clifftop above Praia do Camilo, one of the small coves near Ponta da Piedade in Lagos. It began as a simple restaurant by the sea, built around fresh fish and seafood sourced locally, and that same focus on regional Algarve cooking and local produce has carried through every version of the restaurant since. The building was reopened in the summer of 2011 with a more modern architecture and design, while keeping the same principles of quality and traditional Algarve food that made the original restaurant a fixture on this stretch of coast. The current logo, redesigned around the same theme, brings together a school of fish, barnacles, leaves and artichokes to represent what the family calls the fusion of land and sea in the kitchen. O Camilo is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 23:30, with the kitchen serving from 12:00 to 21:00, and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations are taken by phone or in person only, at the restaurant on Estrada da Ponta da Piedade, right above Praia do Camilo.
