Restaurante A Ruína

A Ruína has been serving fish and seafood on Praia dos Pescadores since 1972. Founders João and Salomé Lázaro built the restaurant into the wall of the old tower that defended the Sant'Ana Door, part of Albufeira's Moorish-era fortifications that were partly destroyed in the 1755 earthquake, and the dining rooms still climb through the old stonework from the sand up to the roof. The main dining room seats 53, the Well Room (built around an old well) 33, a groups room 60 and a roof room 20, alongside a rooftop terrace for 100 and a beach terrace for 75. From May to October lunch is served at the beach restaurant and dinner up on the rooftop, both looking straight over the fishermen's beach. The menu runs from sardines to turbot with an extensive shellfish list. The restaurant closes on Mondays. In spring and summer it opens 12:00 to 18:00 and 19:00 to 23:00; in autumn and winter 12:30 to 15:00 and 18:30 to 22:30, with an annual break from 5 January to 20 February. In July and August reservations are taken only until 19:30, through the request form on the website (the rooftop entrance is at Rua da Bateria 11).
