McDonald's is the world's largest fast-food restaurant chain, known for the Big Mac, its McMuffin breakfast range and the McCafe coffee counter that now sits inside most of its restaurants. The brand opened its first restaurant in Portugal on 23 May 1991, at CascaiShopping near Lisbon, and has grown into the country's biggest quick-service network, run through a mix of company-operated and franchised restaurants. In the Algarve, the flagship restaurant sits inside Forum Algarve shopping centre in Faro, where the menu covers the classic burgers, chicken items, wraps, salads and the Portuguese-only McBifanas alongside the McCafe range. The restaurant offers table service, a McDrive lane, McDelivery home delivery, mobile ordering through the McDonald's app, and is set up for children's birthday parties. According to McDonald's own restaurant locator, the Algarve is also served by further restaurants at Algarve Shopping (Guia/Albufeira), Lagos, MarShopping Loule (Almancil), Olhao, Aqua Portimao (including a dedicated drive-thru), and Quarteira/Vilamoura, several of them with their own drive-thru lanes.
