Marisqueira Sol e Mar

Marisqueira Sol e Mar has been trading on Avenida Francisco Sa Carneiro, Quarteira's main avenue, since the year 2000, when it opened as a small snack bar. A major refit in 2004 turned it into the full seafood restaurant it is today, with a tank and chilled display cases of fresh fish and shellfish at the front of the house, and further requalification works since to keep pace with demand. The menu runs from clams, prawns, tiger shrimp, rock barnacles and oysters from Ria Formosa as starters, through seafood and fish cataplanas, shellfish and lobster rice, and grilled whole fish sold by weight, to grilled meats for anyone at the table who wants to skip the sea. Its signature dish is the Mariscada Sol e Mar, a mixed seafood platter served in a wooden boat painted with traditional Portuguese motifs, built to share. Marisqueira Sol e Mar is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00, and tables can be booked through the form on its bilingual website (Portuguese and English) or by phone.
