Marisqueira Rui

Marisqueira Rui was founded in 1977 by Mr. Rui and has become one of the most recognised seafood restaurants in the region. The restaurant's own tank is kept stocked with prawns, clams, spider crab, lobster and fish from Sagres, alongside whatever else is landed daily. The kitchen's best-known dishes are its cataplanas and arroz de marisco (seafood rice), and it also serves meat dishes for non-seafood eaters, including Bife à Rui and Pica-Pau. The dining room has an animated, bustling atmosphere, with staff serving hot seafood dishes and cold beer between busy tables, and diners cracking open sapateira (crab) at the table as part of the experience. Marisqueira Rui is at Rua Comendador Vilarinho, Nº 27, in Silves. Opening hours are 12:00 to 16:00 and 18:00 to 23:00; the restaurant closes on Tuesdays year-round, and also on Mondays from October to May.
