Marina de Portimão

Marina de Portimão sits at the mouth of the Arade River in Portimão, sheltered between the forts of Santa Catarina and São João do Arade, right next to Praia da Rocha. It forms part of a roughly 25-hectare waterfront development that combines the marina itself with a boatyard, a Yacht Club, restaurants, shops, bars and an ocean pool, and it serves as the departure point for many of the Algarve's boat trip and big-game fishing operators. The marina's boatyard sits on the left bank of the Arade and runs a 50-tonne gantry crane plus a second crane able to handle vessels up to 300 tonnes and catamarans up to 9 metres wide, alongside a team of specialist naval repair companies. Marina de Portimão also hosts international sailing and powerboat competitions and is used as a training base by professional teams, while the Yacht Club runs an annual programme of sporting and social activities, including recreational sailing licences, training for young people and adults, and support for the Vela Solidária adapted-sailing project. The marina has held Blue Flag status every year since 2000, reaching 25 consecutive years in 2025, when it was also named the Bluest Marina of the year and Best Environmental Marina in Portugal by ABAEE Portugal and the Portuguese Environment Agency. It holds a 5 Gold Anchor rating from The Yacht Harbour Association / British Marine Federation, Super Yacht Ready certification (the first marina in Portugal to hold it), and in 2025 was elected Best Marina in Southern Europe at the World Luxury Awards. The marina publishes its berth tariffs and tide tables each year and can be reached through its administrative office at Ponta da Areia, Portimão.
