Associação Madrugada

Madrugada is a charity established in 2009 that provides free, home-based palliative and end-of-life care to people in the Algarve affected by a life-limiting illness, along with support for their families. Its specialist clinical team cares for patients who wish to spend their remaining time in their own home, while the Madrugada Centre in Praia da Luz offers counselling, therapeutic and creative activities, complementary therapies, advice and practical equipment for patients and the people close to them. The charity funds its free care service through three shops trading under the Madrugada name: Encore, a fashion resale shop in Praia da Luz, and Home Store shops in Lagos and Lagoa selling donated furniture, homeware and household goods. It also runs a programme of fundraising events, including an annual padel tournament at Ocean Padel Club in Luz and a photography competition, alongside membership, tribute funds and business sponsorship schemes. Residents can get involved by volunteering, donating goods or money, becoming a member, or shopping and donating at the Encore and Home Store shops in Praia da Luz, Lagos and Lagoa.
