AOA - Associação Oncológica do Algarve

AOA – Associação Oncológica do Algarve supports cancer patients and their families through their treatment journey, promoting specialised, humanised care across the region. Based in Faro, the association runs a breast cancer screening programme (mammography for women aged 50 to 69) through a mobile screening unit that travels around every council in the Algarve in turn, alongside clinical support services including speech therapy, physiotherapy, psycho-oncology, nutrition counselling and stomal therapy. Its MOV project (Movimento Oncológico pela Vida), backed by European funding, extends these community support services further across the Algarve. AOA welcomes new members, who gain access to its services for an annual fee, alongside one-off donations and volunteers for its events and campaigns, including an annual Jantar de Solidariedade (solidarity dinner). AOA is based at Largo das Mouras Velhas, nº16, in Faro, and also runs an online shop and donation page on its website.
