Restaurante Luar da Fóia

Restaurante Luar da Foia stands on the road up to Foia, the highest point in the Algarve, on the outskirts of Monchique. The current restaurant traces back 36 years to a small wooden bar that opened on the same site, and has since grown into the mountain restaurant it is today, built around traditional Monchique cooking and local produce. The kitchen changes its dishes daily depending on what local produce is available, with black pork among the specialities alongside dishes such as wild boar with prunes and oven-roasted lamb carre, reflecting the game and pork traditions of the Serra de Monchique. The restaurant is open every day of the week except Sundays and Mondays, with the kitchen running continuously from midday to 9pm. Reservations can be made online or by phone, though the restaurant asks that same-day bookings be made by phone rather than email, since it cannot always guarantee a timely response online.
