Zoo de Lagos

Zoo de Lagos is the only zoo in the Algarve, located at Medronhal, Quinta Figueiras, in Barão de São João, in the municipality of Lagos. It is home to more than 170 animal species from five continents, including a penguin pool (open from 1 April to 30 September, last entry at 18:00), a chimpanzee enclosure, reptiles and a wide range of birds. The zoo is open every day of the year, from 10:00 to 19:00 between 1 April and 30 September, and from 10:00 to 17:00 the rest of the year. Daily feeding sessions are scheduled for pelicans (11:30), otters, primates and pelicans together (15:00) and penguins (16:00), plus a bookable lemur encounter (ages 7 and up) at EUR 50 per person, at 11:45 and 16:00. Tickets can be bought online, valid through 31 December 2026, with a EUR 2 discount against the gate price: children aged 3 to 11 cost EUR 12 (EUR 14 at the gate), adults cost EUR 17 (EUR 19 at the gate) and seniors aged 65 and over cost EUR 15 (EUR 17 at the gate). Children under 2 enter free. The zoo also runs a restaurant, snack bar and picnic areas, a gift shop, birthday party packages and a schools programme.
