Jim Player

Jim Player is a family-run insurance brokerage based on Rua 5 de Outubro in Almancil. Jim Player himself arrived in the Algarve with his young family in 1968, working first at the Casa Lumena guesthouse in Faro and helping launch the region's first English-language newspaper, then called 'What's On In The Algarve' (now The News). In 1980 he founded Jim Player Real Estate & Insurance in Almancil, becoming the area's first insurance broker; Fátima Gonçalves, recently arrived from South Africa, joined the business in 1981 and is now its CEO. Jim Player died in November 2007, and the company continues under the trading name Jim Player, operated by James Bruce Player Seguros Lda. The brokerage has been registered with the ASF (Autoridade de Supervisão de Seguros e Fundos de Pensões) since 3 September 2007 under agent number 407167558, authorised for both life and non-life insurance, and is registered at the Loulé Commercial Registry (Pessoa Coletiva 503199605). It arranges car, life, home, health, travel and business insurance, including fleet motor, multi-risk, civil liability, workplace accident and health cover for companies, comparing terms across a panel of insurers for each client.
