Golf Santo António / Parque da Floresta

The Santo António golf course was designed by Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain's best-known course architects, whose approach favours minimal alteration to the existing terrain. The 18-hole course runs over hills behind the fishing village of Salema, close to the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, with a signature 5th hole, a short but demanding par 3 of 112 metres surrounded by sharp slopes. The par 5 9th, at 490 metres and rated the toughest stroke index 1 hole, closes the front nine with a steeply uphill third shot played over a ravine. The back nine takes in a green protected by water at the 11th, the par 5 that climbs the "Valley of the Wells" at the 12th, sweeping views to the village of Figueira and the sea at the par 4 14th (known as the "Lost Valley"), a dramatic tee shot over a large lake at the par 3 15th, water in play again at the 16th and 17th, and a finishing 18th played beneath the clubhouse. The course is tree-lined with pines and eucalyptus, mixes heath and parkland styles, and a buggy is recommended given the terrain. Practice facilities include a driving range with 10 open-air and 4 covered tees, a putting green, and a short game area behind the 1st tee with its own chipping green and bunkers. The golf course and reception are open daily from 07h30 to 18h00, with rental clubs, shoes and trolleys, buggies (without GPS) and golf lessons all available on site, and the clubhouse offering a bar and restaurant. The published 2026 green fee for 18 holes ranges from EUR 57 to EUR 108 depending on season, with a 9-hole green fee of EUR 60, buggy hire at EUR 40 (18 holes) or EUR 25 (9 holes), and trolley hire from EUR 5. The course has hosted events including the Henry Cooper Charity Golf Classic, the David Seaman Safe Hands Charity Golf Classic and the PGA Europro Tour.
