Faro Free Walking Tours

Faro Free Walking Tours is a group of local guides who lead a two hour tour of Faro city centre in English. The tour covers the history of the Algarve capital and the role of the Ria Formosa lagoon, along with the heritage left by the Romans, the Arabs and other civilisations. Stops include the old city walls, Arco da Vila, the old town (Vila Adentro), the Sé Cathedral, the Municipal Museum, Arco do Repouso, the Lethes Theatre and Carmo Church and its bone chapel. Tours run every day. From 1 October to 31 May they start at 11:00 and 15:00, and from 1 June to 30 September at 10:00 and 16:00. The meeting point is in front of Arco da Vila, next to the tourist information office, where the guide carries a red umbrella. No reservation is needed, except for groups of more than four, who should get in touch in advance. At the end of the tour guests choose what to contribute.
