Burros e Artes

Burros e Artes is a ceramics studio near Odeceixe, in the Aljezur countryside, run by potter André da Costa alongside artisan Elsa Ribeiro. The studio has offered hands-on clay experiences since 2008, working from Herdade do Serrão in Vale das Amoreiras. The main workshop is a traditional pottery wheel session (Workshop de Olaria Tradicional), where visitors shape a single piece on a manual wheel in around 1 hour 30 minutes, from EUR 35. The studio also runs a Figurative Ceramics Workshop of the same length and price, shaping a small figure from clay, and regular ceramics classes (6 hours across sessions) for EUR 90, for beginners or anyone wanting to build their skills. A mobile version of the pottery workshop can also be arranged at the customer's own location. Elsa Ribeiro's ceramic practice draws on the landscape of the Costa Vicentina, exploring the relationship between land, sea and memory through contemporary sculptural pieces. Her work and André's are sold as artisan pieces from the studio.
