Blue Ocean Divers

Blue Ocean Divers was founded in 1996 by German instructor Elmar Vees (SSI, PADI and CMAS) and English instructor John Giddings (PADI and IAHD), and the school has been organising dive trips in the Algarve since 1993. It operates from the Luz Bay Club in Praia da Luz, near Lagos. Courses run from a half day Bubblemaker taster for young children (EUR 50) and a Discover Scuba session (EUR 60) up to full certifications: Open Water Diver (EUR 490, 4 days), Advanced Open Water Diver (EUR 400, 2 to 3 days), Rescue Diver (EUR 490, 4 to 5 days) and Divemaster (EUR 1,500, a minimum of 6 days), with Specialty courses at EUR 250 over 2 days. Diving trips usually run twice a day, with night dives available on request, and the school can choose sites on the Algarve's south or west coast depending on conditions. Beyond scuba, Blue Ocean Divers also runs kayak and snorkelling tours along the coastline, led by an experienced divemaster, taking in some of the best snorkelling spots in the area.
