BJ's Oceanside

BJ's Oceanside is a beach restaurant and bar on Praia do Almargem, on the stretch of coast between Quarteira and Vale do Lobo. It is reached along the beach or via a sandy path of around 1.5km, with free parking in front of the venue. The business has been running for around 16 years under English owners Becks and Jay, who took it over in 2009 and built it into one of the best-known beach pavilions on this part of the coast. The kitchen serves a small, made-to-order menu of fish and meat dishes plus a vegan bean burger, in keeping with its size as a beach pavilion rather than a large restaurant, with the full menu published on its website. Opening hours run seasonally: from 22 May to 30 September the bar runs 10am to 5:30pm and 6:30pm to 10:30pm, with the kitchen open midday to 4:30pm and 6:30pm to 9:30pm; in October the bar shortens to 10am to 8pm with the kitchen until 6pm; on Sundays the bar runs 10am to 5:30pm with food served until 5pm. BJ's hosts live music and entertainment on selected dates through the season, publishing its calendar on its own site, and sells branded merchandise for adults and children.
