ArtCatto

ArtCatto is an art gallery in Loulé founded by Gillian Catto, who spent 30 years as owner of the Catto Gallery in London before settling in the Algarve. During her three decades in London, Gillian developed a reputation for launching the careers of artists who went on to become household names, including Jack Vettriano, whose solo show at her gallery helped create global demand for his work almost overnight. She also exhibited celebrities turned artists such as Tony Curtis and Tony Bennett, and was responsible for the commission of a monumental artwork by the Russian artist Serge Chepik for St Paul's Cathedral, dedicated in 2005 in a ceremony attended by Baroness Thatcher. At its gallery on Avenida José da Costa Mealha in Loulé, ArtCatto represents a roster of international fine and urban artists, among them Thomas Bossard, a French painter who trained in Graphic Arts at the Institut Saint Luc in Tournai, Belgium, and worked for several years as a painter-decorator at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse before developing his own artistic practice. The gallery's other represented artists include Craig Alan, Annalu Boeretto, Darryn Eggleton, Erika Toliusis, Jurgen Lingl, Michael F. Rumsby and Seaty. ArtCatto also runs a pop-up gallery space inside Vila Vita Parc in Porches. The Loulé gallery is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm, and Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm; the Vila Vita Parc pop-up runs daily from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 6:30pm.
