APEXA - Associação de Apoio à Pessoa Excepcional do Algarve

APEXA, the Associação de Apoio à Pessoa Excepcional do Algarve, was founded in 2003 by a group of parents and friends of people with disabilities. Its stated purpose is to promote the autonomy of people with disabilities and defend their right to equal opportunities and quality of life, working across education, training, health, leisure, sport, employment and social inclusion. The association operates from five bases across the central Algarve: its headquarters at the Escola Primária de Valverde in Guia, plus Espaço Ágora in Albufeira, the Escola Primária de Vale de Margem in Pêra, Espaço LACUS in Lagoa, and a Social Hub in Ferreiras. Its services include psychology, speech therapy, art therapy, adapted sport, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, delivered through projects such as With.Care, Inspira X, OneBean, MindAut, reCria and Voz Visual-Lacus, alongside early intervention and socio-professional integration programmes.
