A Maré

A Maré is a family-owned guesthouse in the centre of Salema, a fishing village on the western Algarve coast, just 50 metres from the ocean. It was the first guesthouse built in Salema, dating back to the early 1980s, when it started life as a bar and restaurant with rooms above. The property has been updated many times since, most recently with an extensive renovation in 2024 that added modern conveniences while keeping the traditional character of the building. Accommodation is spread over three floors and made up of nine individual units, apartments, studios and en-suite rooms, each named after a beach, place or cave from the surrounding area. There is no private parking on site, but the guesthouse says there is plenty of free public parking in the village, with details sent to guests once a booking is confirmed. Being in the centre of Salema, A Maré is a short walk from the beach and the village's restaurants and shops. Rooms and studios can be booked directly through the guesthouse's own website.
